Weekend re-cap

Prior to this weekend my mom, and her sisters were talking about getting the girls in our family together to spend the day doing something fun, so they decided we should go see a movie. My mom then suggested that we should take the Metrolink down to San Juan Capistrano where we could see a movie at the Regency Theater. This was such a fantastic idea! The 6 of us left on the Metrolink around 9:30 on Saturday morning, and arrived to San Juan Capistrano a little over an hour later. The train ride was perfect! It allowed us to talk and visit without having to pay attention to what was going on around us. When we arrived we had over an hour before our movie started, so we walked around downtown San Juan.

Then it was time for our movie. The theater was so awesome! We got tickets to go into the VIP Lounge (fancy!). This lounge is soo cool. It seats probably 40 people, and when you get there an usher takes you to your seats, hands you a menu, and lets you get situated. Each person has a big comfy leather chair to sit in and there are little tables connected to the chair so you can comfortably eat a meal while watching your movie. The best part about this is if you go to the first showing in the VIP lounge, the cost is only $10 (still cheaper than a movie at a regular theater).

We watched The Help, and that movie was amazing! I started reading the book when my mom told me we were going to see the movie, but wasn't able to finish it before hand. I was slightly disappointed that I didn't finish the book first since I like to read a book before seeing the movie, but let me tell you the movie did not disappoint! I'm still excited to finish the book, and I highly recommend both the movie and the book, it's a wonderful story! After the movie ended we headed  back to the train stop and waited for our train home. Such a fun day.

Another wonderful part about the Metrolink is since it's summertime, you can buy a weekend pass for $10 per person, and use it to go anywhere the Metrolink stops for the entire weekend. I decided it would be fun to take Andrew on the train on Sunday, so that's just what we did. We were trying to decide on a place to go, but he wanted to explore San Juan Capistrano too, so we went back.  When we got there we explored more of San Juan, some stuff I had already seen from the day before, and some new things. Our first stop was at a petting zoo. It was very small, but cute. We saw a huge turtle, a few llamas, some zebras, turkeys, and a few other things.

After the petting zoo, we walked around in that general area, which had a few cafe's and some shops. The shops were adorable because it looked like it was someone's house. We continued walking through the little neighborhood and admired all the cute houses around. Then we walked around on the other side of the train tracks to a huge antique store and finally it was time for Andrew to see what the VIP Lounge was all about.

We watched the movie One Day, and Andrew really liked being treated like royalty in the lounge :). Once our movie ended we had a ton of time to kill before our train left to go back home, so we went back to the antique shop to finish looking at what we didn't see the first time around. We still had time to kill so we just headed back to the train stop to wait, and instead we decided to be like kids and safely play on the tracks.

we even smashed a penny
normal penny on the right, smashed penny on the left
It was a very fun weekend, and I'm sure we will be taking the Metrolink to a few more fun places
